Spicy Back Ribs in White BBQ Sauce

So this is super simple even though it seems complex. It tasted really good and was done in about 30 minutes. It’s not a TRUE Alabama white barbecue sauce, but it’s got the same basic ingredients.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 4 pounds pork baby back ribs
  • Cooking Oil

SAUCE:

  • 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup yellow mustard
  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons hot pepper sauce

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a small bowl, combine the first 6 ingredients.
  2. Cut ribs into serving-size pieces; rub with seasoning mixture.
  3. Then using some peanut oil or your favorite frying oil…fry them lightly. Just enough to get some crust on the outside. You’re not looking for total doneness here.
  4. Place Ribs on a baking sheet lined with tin foil (and a cooling rack if you have one).
Make your sauce. Stirring it up thoroughly. Using a basting brush rub the ribs with sauce.
  5. Place ribs into the oven for 10 minutes basting with sauce again half way through cooking.

NOTES: This CAN be done in a slow cooker over about 4-5 hours…I just didn’t have the time.
